1. Quality leather wallet with names, numbers addresses of not just your home but neighbors/ friends.
2. Keys, not just your house/ car but friends houses where you could crash if needed, or to check on their safety.
3. Knife, useful for obvious reasons.
4. Flashlight. Again obvious reasons!
5. Wristwatch. $30 Timex is recommended....
My modifications to the listed 5:
1. Ladies and men could consider a nylon body-wallet, I have one from REI which is very flat against body. If someone steals your nice leather wallet, you still have your body wallet.
2. Keys to friends homes? Honestly I guess I do not have anyone who would give me a key to their home, maybe out in the country this is a popular thing. And I would not give keys to my home to anyone.
3. Knife could be a multi-tool. I would add a separate small scissors, since the ones on multi-tools are pretty useless. Since I often carry sock knitting with me, I've got this covered.
4. Flashlight. Also have stashed in car, a headlamp, better than slobbering on your maglight while peering under hood of car.
5. "Wristwatch" is just not necessary, unless it has a compass on it--? I would replace this item with a water filtration bottle.
To the list of 5, I carry with me at all times,
6. Fully charged cell phone, has GPS and communications.
7. Hi-protein granola bars, or a baggie of mixed nuts & dark chocolate chips.
8. Insulated mug of coffee, much cheaper to bring your own than get Starbucks.
