A.C. vs D.C. voltage drop?

I hope I word this right.
Have a small solar set-up I'm just learning about.
4 25 wattpanels and deep cycle marine battery.I know,not the best but gotta start somewhere.

Just in general terms,am I better keeping the invertor as close to the battery and running long extension cords

or

running the battery cords longer and pluging right into the the invertor?
