Help me find a generator

Is the shop attached to your house? How long do you plan to use the gen for in a backup scenario? And how much fuel do you plan to keep handy?
(or better yet, how much many gallons of fuel did you use when you relied on the 3500 for a week?)

Normally for smaller gens, I would recommend to go for whatever fuel your vehicles use. (makes sense, and easy to rotate fuel without losing money). I have had large gens for work, and you do need alot of fuel. We had to keep 5 jerry cans on hand to ensure it never ran out. (I was not privvy to its exact specs).

If this is just a temporary backup until you can get a larger one, would it be better to break the bank and get the larger one, or look for a used one with a warranty?

If you do get the smaller one. One thing to consider for the long term is to see if you can make your fridge / freezer run completely off the grid. At least here, (Australia) with the high cost of fuel, running a generator compared to normal electricity makes you lose money. It never pays itself off.
Making your fridge / freezer run completely off the grid using solar is possible, and it can realistically pay itself off. It can also continue to work even if you cannot get your hands on fuel.

So realistically you still need a generator, but long term you have other options to consider.

It will also consume just over a half gallon of diesel per hour, at the 6250 output. Would love to give you all the info I can on the topic.

Thats an estimated 168 Gallons over 14 day period, or 34 full sized jerry cans. You would have to rotate a jerry can a week in order to keep it fresh, and even then you are pushing it.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
