Napa/Sonoma California Fires-- Checking In!

We are among the lucky ones here, just happen to live right in a safe zone and we still have power for now.

High winds fueled the fires and brought down a tree in the backyard. Fortunately it missed all buildings and didn't do too much damage to the fence.

Most people still have data on their cell phones, if not full service, and are able to communicate their safety.

Mass evacuations of many areas nearby. A couple of board members are likely among the displaced. There is a shelter just down the street for people forced out of their homes. Schools and many businesses are closed. The air is unpleasant to even breathe and you get ashes blowing in your eyes going outside.

"Bugging out" is out of the question; we are pretty much surrounded and most roads are closed. Besides, we're not going to get any better than where we are now-- safe at home with power! Definitely doing better than most folks I have contact with. Nearby friends and family who have evacuated still had no safe way to reach us and have ended up wherever they landed.

Guess since I'm trapped inside today with no way to get to work I'll hang out (or in) and go over my preps!
