Why 10mm?

I guess the history.
The FBI adopted this hot round after being outgunned in the Hollywood Florida shootout.

But they dialed it back to the .40 cal S&W because limp wristed FBI agents couldn't handle it. So it is sort of a leftover round that didn't take off. But if you want a powerful semi-auto man stopper, perhaps worth a look.

A .40 cal S&W +P gets you close to the same performance
40 SW +P Gold Dot HP 155 grains 582 Ft-lbs energy 1300 FPS

But modern 10mm loads can be had with more power.
