Anyway, my husband has deteriorated a lot over the last couple of years and hates to take me anywhere now. Which meant, for a while, I was paying $40 round trip every time I went to Walmart or the pet store.
But one Sunday my guy with a truck fried his clutch (I saw that coming) and I had "no" food and the budget was low. I tried Walmart grocery delivery.
Now, I have been getting Amazon for 20 years. I think the most remarkable thing I ever bought was a queen sized sleep master bed base. It has proven to be very comfortable and I sleep on it every night. Bonus, I can shove a ton of supplies underneath.
So I went to the Walmart site and started putting stuff in my cart. Easy checkout. At first it wanted me to pickup and I had to tell it I was a delivery. They checked, I was close enough (and that's what drives me nuts, I am close), and I set up the time. Right on time, I got bags and bags of groceries.
I have continued with the delivery, skipping it the rare times I HAD to go into the store for some other reason. I have found they will bring disposable plates, cat litter, all sorts of things. Of course I tip, and help them unload.
Love it.
Then I tried Chewy. Had to spend $50 for free shipping, which took a bite out of the budget, but when I did I got it in 2 days (they are not far from Houston), and the dry cat food had a very good sell by date 18 months in the future. So that saves the trip to the pet store.
Produce delivery, I pick what I want, it comes on the porch. Lettuce didn't do too well in our weather.
But everything else has been great.
I hate to see myself as a victim. I have some chains on me but it is good to find places to help me out without a lot of stress, or money.
The Walmart delivery charge for me is only $8 a trip.
I'm glad this happened. He isn't going to live forever and I will need some options when that happens.
I can get anything delivered!
