Returning after a long break from SB. A few yrs ago I posted about this French MAS 36 in .308 I bought for $180. Surprisingly it was actually done right, and is a shooter. I cut it down to a handy little carbine, added fully adjustable precision Tech sights (the original was adj for elevation only), a flash suppressor, a Tourbon recoil pad and a stripper clip stock pouch from Strike Hard Gear. I need to practice working the bolt from the shoulder a bit more, but the thing shoots fast and accurate offhand at close to medium range with open sights, which is what I built it for. Considering adding a scout scope in the near future, though. Recently, I decided a fast handy pseudo-scout rifle like this needs ten rounds, so I bought a spare floorplate, spring and follower, along with a MAS 49/56 magazine, and made it a ten rd fixed magazine. Lots of people say you can't make a 49/56 mag fit IN a 36, but you can use the magazine body to make an extended fized mag, a la an SKS, which is what I did. Very pleased with how it turned out. Check out the video of the 10 rd mag test. Cheers
