Pick what you like and just make damn sure you are up to making the gun do what it needs to do.

Whatever happens, its your choice, and you get to live, or maybe die with it. So blow the smoke up your own butt if you have a magic gun that shoots magic bullets.

I will say this, if you have experience with most of the different handgun types, and most of the major calibers, you know that some guns are just easier to shoot well with and provide the best chance at solving the problem, no matter how complicated things might get. That, and 9mm is the easiest of the bunch to shoot well with, and performs to the same standards as all the other major calibers.

The correct answer to both of those questions, assuming youre actually serious about things and not lost in folklore and nostalgia, is a couple of the more current autoloaders available today. Anything else is just self delusion.
