Joe Biden & Kamila Harris Ticket Would Destroy 2A

Honestly at this point any democratic ticket has the 2nd in their sights. Obama spent most of his political capital on Obamacare. If it weren’t for Obamacare I think the landscape of the 2nd would be much different than it is now. He had the majority in the house and a filibuster proof Senate. He had a choice of what to focus on. He chose Obamacare. Luckily he lost the majorities in 2012.

Hillary was proudly declaring that she would take on the NRA in 2016.

I think the next big thing that a democrat president will focus on is gun control no matter who it is. It will be their Obamacare...... if they have control the house and a filibuster proof Senate.

The president on their own can not destroy the 2nd..... or expand it. I have heard a lot of people elsewhere criticize Trump because he did not do anything to expand gun rights. My question is always “what was he suppose to do, he does not write law, and did not have the votes in the Senate to get anything passed. (He is not perfect, I was not happy about bump stocks by any means, but heads and shoulders above what any democratic candidate is offering. Can you imagine any democratic president saying gun stores are essential businesses).

If a democrat candidate (and I am still not sure it will be Biden) does get elected they will need the house and a filibuster proof Senate to pass anything.

Even if they don’t have the Senate and/or the house they can still do a lot of damage in the form of judges. One of the biggest impacts Trump has had on the 2nd is appointing judges. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh are the obvious ones. They both have pro 2nd track records. But he has appointed a lot of other judges at the federal level that are pro 2nd. I don’t know if we could have survived 8 years of Obama appointees, and then 4 years of Hillary appointees. She would have replaced Scalia, Ginsberg and possibly Kavanaugh. Replacing Scalia would have been disastrous for the 2nd.

And that may be the worst thing for the 2nd if Biden or whoever gets elected. 1. They will replace Ginsberg. It would be nice for the 2nd if Trump wins and appoints a pro 2nd judge in Ginsbergs place. (Assuming republicans still control the Senate). The scary part is any pro 2nd judge is an accident away from being replaced. If a Gorsuch chokes on a piece of steak and Biden is in the Whitehouse and the Senate is controlled by antis..... that hurts the 2nd.

However you look at it, like Trump or hate him, if the 2nd is high on your list of priorities he is the only choice in November.
