new fridge-get extended warranty?

So Mom finally decided on what style to get,S/S,french-2 doors on top,pull out freezer on bottom.Ice maker only in freezer,not door or water dispenser.

Started looking at HD and lowes yesterday to see them in person to narrow it down based on looks and layout.Looks like it will be close to 1500$,so big ticket item.Both stores had signs offerening extended warranties for 179$(I think),didn't check into it yet.
I assume this is some type of third party contract?No clue what is covered,just parts,labor,deductabile,in house service call?

Seems like most everything is electronic with motherboards.Indoor ice/water seems to be a problem also,thats why just the freezer ice maker.

So,anyone with any experience lately..worth it..peace of mind...needed...comments.

Haven't decided on anything yet,just started looking and trying to think proactivley.
