food forest

I searched this topic and found a few threads from several years ago from people that either started a food forest or were contemplating it. There wasn't anything updated after 2013 though.

I'm wondering if anyone here has started one, how it has progressed, and if they used any of Rick Austin's techniques? He talks a lot about companion planting. I've ordered his book to get more detail.

I really like the idea of having a garden that doesn't look like a garden. I've been digging into this growing method the last few days and am impressed so far by what I've found.
