Then, I switched to ZQI 7.62x51. I have used ZQI in my 5.56 rifles with good luck, but not in my AR10! I suddenly was unable to make any sort of consistent grouping. It was so bad that I have never seen ammunition cause such an accuracy problem. I went from making 2" sized groups at 100 meters to not even hitting paper. I was getting jams with every shot for a a few rounds in a row (looked like the bolt was short stroking). I tried the ammo in a different mag and then shot the rifle off of a lead sled. Same result. I was shooting ZQI from a lead sled at 100 meters and the shots were not grouping within a foot of eachother! Jams kept up no matter which mag I used.
Then, I switched back to PPU M80. I was back to making neat little groups on my point of aim and did not have any failures. When I switched back to the PPU, I noticed that the recoil was demonstrably greater. The gun felt like it had gained a lot of power. Bullet weights were the same between each brand of ammo (147g approx.).
I am going to pull some bullets and start measuring the remaining ZQI ammo to figure out what in the hell is going on! Anybody else have an issue like this? Was it a bad batch or does ZQI suck at making 7.62x51?
Whats the worst Ammo Experience you've had?
