Baofeng UV-5R ham radio, $25

Well stated.
If the SHTF, no license required .
I have one and it works well in the “scan” mode.
I have questions about antennas, but can find no place to ask.
The attached antenna is known as weak.

With an adapter, I connected my 108” CB dipole to the Baofeng, it receives nothing on scan, (bad adapter?) with the short factory antenna, it’s picks up local repeator and NOA weather.

Not attempting broadcast, just listening.
