House Judicary Panel Advances UBC

Quote:

The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday advanced legislation that would require universal background checks for gun purchases in the latest sign that Democrats are prioritizing gun control in the first days of their majority.
Lawmakers on the panel voted along party lines to approve the bill, 23-15. Democrats hope to bring the measure to the floor for a vote in the coming weeks.

Of course first they had to make sure that the background check didn't trigger a notification to ICE that an illegal alien had attempted to purchase a gun.

Quote:

At one point, the discussion turned into a debate on immigration and border security surrounding an amendment that would require notifying Immigration and Customs Enforcement when an undocumented person tried to buy a gun, with Republicans accusing Democrats of not wanting to secure the southern border. Republicans moved to adjourn the hearing in the ninth hour, a motion that was voted down.

Of course, being an illegal is the number one reason for failing a background check, with 7,950,999 cases of it last year. So whatever Dems.
