Best Home Defense Gun with a $200 budget?

I'd like to know where you're getting $130 870s even in 20 gauge. I have NEVER IN MY LIFE seen a new 870 for $130, even in 20 gauge. The cheapest 870 I own was a good condition used one for $130, I purchased way back in maybe 2006, and I had to drive 30 minutes to buy it from a Craigslist seller. I'd buy the store empty at that price. Is that a normal price, or a clearance, one-off, employee discount, floor model, in store discount, etc.? As you said it has to be new and a reliable purchase anyone can walk in an buy.

Not likely.

A quick look online, at places like Buds, and 870s are SOLD OUT. An 870 20 gauge is $300 at Academy Sports (usually very good pricing), $320 at Cabelas, $330 at D.I.C.K.S, etc.

I'd be extremely shocked to find anything new labeled Remington 870 south of $250 or $300.

And I will add that I keep a close tab on gun prices, and have a LOT of shotguns including 870s. In fact, I've purchased 6 Remington 870s since October, all used and in fair to good condition. Lowest was about $175, highest about $250. Higher prices in 2020 of course. Nobody is going to count on walking into a gun store and walking out with a NEW 870 for $130. Not gonna happen.

And let's assume they are that price. They'd be sold out in 10 minutes from someone who understands gun prices and buys them all, since that's more than 50% off actual pricing. So the store will be cleaned out in minutes.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
