Road trip caches ???

I recently went through this planning process and was just about to put a couple of caches together. For my situation, I was temporarily working in VA; 550 miles from my home in GA. I had three separate routes. I planned a two caches (actually scouted and found areas to place them). One was going to be placed in a pretty dry (what looked like) a perk-hole; the other was an old collapsing small building well of the road and in heavy underbrush..I had a pretty good spot to keep it from any casual observation. They could be reached from my primary and secondary routes (would be a detour though).

I distance backpack, not much, most backpacking trips are between 50 to 150 miles. I did my last 100 mile (Appalachian Trail) hike in 7 days and the next morning (finished the six miles); that trip had no resupplies and I had a day and half left of food. To keep my pack weight reasonable and knowing my conditioning and limitations, I know I could do about 150 miles. Conditions (more or less permissive), potential threats, weather, terrain and major obstacles all impact that distance. My primary means of travel was my truck, secondary was my mountain bike and in-line trailer that carried my pack (plus extra food, bike repair parts/tools, and a little extra ammo).

While I was faced with the 2A Rally in Richmond followed by the start of the Lock-Down issues, I was close to putting them out, but was fortunately given the green-light to move back home and telework. My plan was to put the first one about 250 miles; the second was after the next 150 miles. My reasoning/risk/plan was that I had enough to get me 250 miles with my primary or secondary means of transportation. If I lost my bike and trailer, I knew I could do the next 150 miles on foot physically and with the extra food.

What I was planning to put into two 5 gallon buckets:

Mylar bag with desiccant packs
Five freeze dried entrée meals; two 72-hour Datrex meals; half-dozen Clif bars; six instant soups and six oatmeal packets
Sawyer Mini water filter with two 1-quart squeeze bags (and water carriers)
Four 700ml water bottles (with water)
Surplus canteen cup (I have a several extra; cheap if lost/stolen)
Plastic spoon
Mora Knife
Two Bic lighter + a contain with cotton balls/Vaseline
Firesteel
Cheap tarp
Roll of bank line
50’ of paracord

Planned to add:
Cheap backpack in case my main pack was lost
Extra road map

Most of those items, to include the freeze-dried backpacking meals, were all on hand. The only cost was the two buckets, painting them with a few cans of spray paint, the mylar bags and desiccant packs, which was all under $30-40 if I recall. Everything else was on hand.

I was considering a wool blanket and possibly some clothing items, but just decided not to include them for a few reasons of available room, risk if lost, etc.
