Shortening buttstock on Rem plastic stocks

I learned long ago as a competition shooter the better a stock fits the user will result in a higher score on the score board because a lot of manufacturers don't care about shooters of a younger age or smaller build.

This is why the collapsible stocks on the AR are so popular. Most stocks have a LOP (length of pull) measured parallel the bore center line to the back of the butt-plate that range from 12 3/4" to 14 1/2".

My competition rifles were shortened years ago and as a result I made four US international rifle teams. My LOPs range from 11 3/4" to 12 1/4" depending on the design etc.

Note: I am going to see if I can turn the screw heads down as screws did not correlate with my counter sink bit haha but can't be felt on shoulder.

Plastic stocks present a special problem in that there is no adhesive that will adhere to the black plastic stocks. The later production Remington stocks can be had with Youth stocks which are perfect but hard to find and you just don't see that many rifles for sale as folks keep them or buy a custom stock that is shorter.

If anyone is interested in how the above is fabricated I will post pics of the lay out. Takes about two hours to make such but the results you get will pay off in the field especially when you are wearing a heavy coat.

I had purchased a after market collapsible stock that was advertised as having a short (my length) LOP and when I mounted it I quickly learned it did not so I wasted money.

Note this design has a forward tilt of the butt-plate where most rifles are made with butt-plates at right angle to bore center line. Which begs the question how many folks do you see that their lower shoulder is not forward of the top of the shoulder?

Remington made 40X target rifles with angle butt-plate and I found when I increased the angle they fit me much better and my scores went up.

There is a basic rule that must be followed which is "if you can't hit it you can't eat it" and having a stock that fits you will enhance your hit probability.

I carry a rifle on my five mile walk in the mornings for snakes, coyotes, armadillos and carrying your rifle for long walks will probably get you to thinking how to improve it.
