New e-mail provider

I am looking for a new free e-mail provider/service that is not affiliated with Yahoo, Google, or Facebook. I've been with Yahoo since 2000 and have an alternate with GMail that I don't use. I was downloading Incredimail, but they are partners with Facebook. So that one is out. Do any of you good folks have a recommendation for a free, reliable, secure email service/provider?
