Proud to be aboard. Looking forward to learning, establishing trust and receiving constructive feedback. Homestead is well underway, water harvesting, multiple structure homes, large barn, and all steel roofs. Very rural and all equipment precisely sized. Retired living the clean life and not willing to give it up. Vet owned and operated. Respectfully Jack
I've learned not to believe a thing that I read in the mainstream media until it is confirmed. That includes FOX.
How do you plan to organize for such an extreme reaction, from people you have to synchronize together to overcome the situation?
I mean kids and teenagers, posting likes and duckfaces on Social media, I understand, there will be a problem to motivate them to keep it together, but for Grownups what do you do if they start to behave erratically - to say the least - ?
Any good thoughts will be much appreciated.
I have also seen home made carts, kind of like a golf caddy cart that attaches to your weight, but the center of the weight would be over the wheels. This allows you to carry more equipment while only carrying one weapon. Tent, sleeping bag, extra food, etc would be on the cart.
If you are just hunting a cart would be nice to haul meat out. Survival another matter.
Why a crossbow for your main weapon? Why not a rifle?
It's a single point of failure that can take down a shocking number of products. More and more, companies go to Cloud services to save a lot of $$$ in setting up their own data centers. And this is one of the potential consequences.

You can find just about any subject matter that is of interest to you here. Thanks:)Front sight is attached without a mechanical fastener. Probably solder. I'm not set up to remove and replace soldered front sights.
I called Ruger, got a RMA number and shipped it to them on my dime. I respectively requested a taller front sight blade be installed. I expressed that I'd be willing to pay for a taller front sight if it's not covered under their warranty.
I'm hoping that they oblige me.
Anyone else with a similar Super Blackhawk experience? My google-foo shows that this is not an uncommon thing with older, Ruger SA pistols.
Thanks in Advance

And then the stupid weather. One day it is snowing, the next it's 70 degrees. The fruit trees have flowers on them, and now they are all going to freeze. The poor horse is shedding it's winter coat, just in time for more snow. Yuck.

Made this from spare parts from my reloading tools Everything I need to decap, lube, resize, measure, charge these 2 calibers. I think I will even...Hell, even Best Picture was a controversy and ended up going to the movie focused on this demographic. Moonlight was a cultural and political statement, thus why it won. Not because it is a movie that anyone really wants to watch.
I cry for Mexican's to rise up!!! Scream and pitch a fit, so that your movies will be represented and voted for nomination next year. Hell, I think a Mexican should be President of the Academy for the next year!!!!!
In 2018, the Asian's can do the same!!!!

I was thinking of a 250 dual purpose bike Today is would be secondary transportation if we have car trouble. Later it could be a go anywhere vehicle. The discount is only until 2/28, so I'm a little bummed out that I found it a little late. Just thought I'd share this with everyone. If anyone knows any other websites that offer discounts for #10 cans, it'll be appreciated.
A few pairs of 50% nylon 50% cotton ACU, and some knock off mil spec clothing 50% polyester 50% cotton. I dyed the ACU pants black and got a cool dark grey digital pattern.
I'm just wondering, will polyester take as well as nylon?
What's really the difference?
So, is nylon more durable than polyester?
Which is more resistant to fading via age or bleach?
Which one is better for hot days?
Which is better at resisting being stained?
Is it all about the same?
Initially I treated them with Nikwax Suede and Nubuck Proof, which does bread water extremely well... at least with short exposures. Today we did a short 3 mile dog walk hike in some very "moist" conditions with standing water and all forms of mud. After the first mile or two I noticed the Nubuck uppers had wetted out. Is this pretty much unavoidable due to the nap? Or are there other better options that the Nikwax nubuck proof? I'm tempted to try something more aggressive like their waterproofing wax but being as new as these boots still are... well that Nubuck just looks and feels so nice
I also want to be careful about products which may have been associated with some forms of delamination as I've seen mixed reviews about the rands on these boots separating (otherwise I'd also strongly consider O's LP).
Has anybody tried both Nikwax as well as other nubuck treatments? Ideally I'd like to provide both conditioning and waterproofing but it seems like Nubuck doesn't get a ton of love from the leather markets.
Same bullet size as .270. The round was designed to run 25 in a 30 round 5.56 mag, and a couple of my buddies use those mags for the round. I built a swap barrel gun on a short action Savage that runs the 5.56 and .300 Blk rounds with a change of bolt face. Range isn't that different, but terminal effect on deer sized game certainly is.

So I have lived in Arizona for 4 years now, relocating from the People's Republic of Kalifornia. I really enjoy living in the United States now and taking advantage of all the benefits a free society has to offer.
When I crossed the border, into Arizona, I kid you not, I felt a sense of profound relief. I was finally going to live somewhere where I was not the enemy or the perceived cause of all of societies problems by virtue of my white skin and conservative values. In hindsight, I wish I had moved here in 1981, when I graduated high school.
As many of you know, Arizona is a Constitutional Carry State, no need for a permit to exercise your rights. All citizens, who are not prohibited persons, may carry weapons for self-defense either concealed or unconcealed, as they wish. Arizona residents have had the right to open carry since before we became a state in 1912. In 2010, the law was changed to allow folks could carry concealed without a permit of any kind.
When I first arrived, I will confess, it was a little weird seeing folks open carrying at Wells Fargo Bank, McDonalds and Walmart. I wasn't bothered by it, just not used to it, living in Kalifornia all of my life. I saw no need to get a Arizona CCW for the last 4 years, until yesterday.
The Class
I signed-up for a class online on Friday and attended in-person at Ben Avery Shooting Range, a few miles from my house, on Saturday. The class was put on by this company:
The instructor was an active Phoenix PD officer with 30 years on the job. The $79, two hour class was a combination of lecture and Q&A. The focus was mainly on Arizona laws relating to CCW and use of force in general. The quality of the information was first rate as was the instructor Ken. I learned a couple of things and felt this was a good use of my time.
As part of the class we were fingerprinted and filled out the one page, two sided application. The process was simple and easy. All that was left to do was to send certified funds of $60 to the state and wait one to two months for the 5 year CCW Permit to arrive by mail. Simple and easy.
The classes and CCW permits are available to all U.S. Citizens residing in the 50 states. About a third of the class was from out-of-state. Currently Arizona CCW permits are recognized in the majority of states in the union, with the usual suspects, California and New York, etc. excluded (see map).
CCW Advantages
So why spend the money and go through the process, when I can and do already legally carry arms. here were my reasons;
1. Ability to carry out of state in 35 states.
2. Bypass NCIS system when purchasing a firearm
3. Ability to legally have a gun within 1,000 feet of a school (Federal law) and able to have my "unloaded" gun in my car while in the school parking lot picking up my kids.
Note: This appears to be an unworkable half-measure that needs to be changed. Basically you are supposed to unload your gun prior to entering the school parking lot and conceal your firearm from view. If you leave your vehicle, the firearm has to be either locked in the trunk or some other secure space.
After dropping off or picking up your kids, you can reload your gun and go on your marry way. Safety wise, this is just asking for trouble. In reality, I doubt most permit holders are doing this as its just plain unsafe and stupid to have to load and unload your gun 10 times a week in the car.
So the law as written is essentially a "Got Ya" for the unlucky good guy that has a police contact on school grounds, maybe from a traffic collision, etc.
4. Able to carry inside a restaurant that serves alcohol, provided you don't consume any or the business clearly posts a "No Guns" sign.
5. Carry in National parks inside Arizona
What's Missing
I was surprised that the State of Washington was not on the list of states that recognized Arizona CCW permits, although they do recognize Utah permits. So I may have to go this route, as I plan on visiting this state in the future.
I was also surprised to read that Oregon does not honor any permits and only allows Oregon resident or a resident of a bordering state (Washington, Idaho, Nevada, or California) to obtain a non-resident permit. I guess they have more Kalifornias living there than I thought. So there is zero legal way for an Arizona resident to exercise their rights in Oregon.
Kalifornia Comparison
The State of California is a may issue state at the full discretion of the county sheriff or the chief of police where you live or work. so all 58 counties have different rules, processes and standards to issue a permit. All permits are recognized statewide and non-residents and out of state permit holders may not carry firearms in California, period.
I lived in Los Angeles County and they would only issue to Celebrities, Judges, Political Donors and their other buddies. Regular folks need not apply. The ability to issue (or deny) CCW Permits is raw political power, plain and simple.
San Bernardino County will issue, but the process is expense and time consuming and can take a year or more. They interview your employer ("Hey Boss, the cops want to talk to you about Bob"), neighbors and require character letters and a "good reason" be stated for wanting a permit. You also have at least one in-person interview at the station. Becoming chief of police is probably easier.
Some rural counties behaved like Shall Issue states and if you were a good guy, you could easily get a permit, good statewide. Right now, California has a population of around 38.8 million residents and they have around 100,000 permits issued. Arizona by comparison has a population of around 6.7 Million and has around 305,000 permits issued.
Conclusion
National Reciprocity legislation can't come soon enough. The patchwork of statewide restrictions are just about unworkable. If the states behaved the same way with driver's licenses, chaos would be the order of the day.
The Arizona process is easy simple and cheap. In a perfect world, a permit would not be unnecessary to simply exercise your God given rights, as enumerated in the U.S. Constitution. Until that day, at least most states in the union have some means for people to legal carry a gun for the protection of themselves and others.
Semi-retired with two small businesses to reestablish. Thinking of western Montana. No sales tax in Montana. Here in CO paying up to 9% sales tax most places - it adds up although the politicians hope you won't notice.
Just me and the dog so I don't need much in the way of digs, definitely been downsizing since the recession. Looking to rent at first then eventually build small off grid house/cabin.
Any thoughts on western Montana? Good places to start out? Any other input welcome, especially from anyone already in the area. TIA
Imagine this nightmarish scenario; you are on vacation in some "other city", the first panic hits, the stores are being looted by the masses and you need to follow close behind.
If they don't burn the stores to the ground what practical items might the Walmartians ignore?
I will start off with something I noticed in the far corner of a Dollar Store near me: Packets of seeds. Don't know how long they had been there, they had a coat of dust on them, but they were probably still viable.
Would people ignore the "Kosher isle"? Would they think to grab the large jugs of Corn Oil?
Let your imaginations run free but also think that you would only be able to carry what you find in your......inset name of favorite backpack here...all the shopping carts are gone.
LTS type lifeboat ration bars usually taste like old saltine crackers. So, I have been trying to come up with better tasting nourishing simple ration bar recipe for hiking, backpacking & as open package & eat survival food, if need be.
40% fat free chunky refried beans, 40% cooked spicy Spanish rice, 20% lean crock pot cooked pork finely diced/shredded, all well mixed in a bowl.
Spread about 5/8ths in thick in a large dark corningware casserole dish that was 1st lightly oiled / floured.
Spread smoothly in a casserole dish
Baked @ 325F for around 50 minutes.
I ate one while still warm. Very tasty (if you like Burritos?).
Still somewhat moist in the middle, so into the dehydrator until bone dry.
Will then package in Mylar, with 02A’s, heat seal & store.
Given the ingredients, these “may” store for several years.
I enjoy tinkering in the kitchen, so why not.

As I go on, I will be adding on to this thread:
1. What I have in my survival kit.
2. How do I find water that need not be processed.
3. How do I process water if I need to.
4. How do I make fire and keep the fire from being put out by heavy rain.
5. What kind of food is available.
6. What I use to make shelters without extensively damaging the trees.
I am sure there are other experts in this field, but I think sharing what I bring and do, will not hurt anyone as we can discuss whatever issues here, and I can learn more from the experts.
For now, my survival kit.
My survival kit is built around to my own needs. If I get lose in the jungle, my priorities will be shelter, fire, water, food and protection, followed by how do I get to civilization.
My kit is usually made up of these few items:-
1. A ferro rod with a small container of cotton balls with 100% petroleum jelly (vaseline).
2. A small ziplock bag containing rolled cotton in wax. ( I need fire more than a shelter and have a phobia of not being able to make fire).
3. A Cree Torchlight.
4. 1 Illumate lamp, able to give SOS strobs ( I bought 4 of these about 8 years ago, and now I couldn't find them on internet. They're still working.)
5. 10 strips of Aquatab Water Purifying tablets. 10 on each strip.
6. A Trangia Mess Tin ( I put everything into this tin).
7. My Fishing kit with assorted hooks, weight and 20 feet of fishing line. I added some artificial worms and spinners.
8. My mini first aid kit containing a stitch kit, some bandages, iodine, bandaids, anti histamin tablets, gastric tablets ( Control Loc), pain killers and eye drops.
9. 2 pieces of disposable ponchos from 7/11.
10. Sea To Summit Tarp Poncho.
11. 100 feet of 550lbs military spec paracord, double cobra weaved as my belt.
12. 17 feet of same type paracord as my paracord bracelet.
13. Mini compass
14. Whistle.
15. My Ontario Blackbird SK5 knife.
16. 2 smoke flares.
For other things I need, I can get them from the jungle, such as cooking pots, firewood, water container, food and some valuable medicinal herbs.
I usually have a Duku Chandung Parang on my belt, in case someone says I need a bigger knife.
I always wear a Sea To Summit Kimberly hat.
That's about it for my Survival Kit. I will leave this to be discussed until I move on to the next step.
Sold it all after a few months of trying to get used to it. Bought a number of high end pads, I'd bottom out on most of them, wasn't happy. Ended up with an Exped Downmat 9 in max size they make it. Might be better out there but haven't found it yet, buy once...
Not looking to spot shots at 100 yards, just something general. Any good cheap stuff out there that wont come unglued when knocked around a little? Personal experiences?
Maybe a pair of binocs and a small scope? In the $50-100 range?
Thanks

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=113&v=KNsTuvoNnaI Has anyone else seen this? I couldn't find another thread about this.First thing that came to my mind was - kidnap -..because I live about 1 hour from the Thai Border.
I quickly got dressed, put on my boots, got my Cree Torchlight and went out to help them look for the trio.
I saw a police car and the cops told me that they saw the kids about 100 meter from my house. However the kids disappeared when approached.
Nearby was a small jungle. We formed a search party, going through the jungle looking for them I was sick and worried if they had gone into the jungle as it was infested with snakes and wild boars.
It was hectic and tiring, walking, yelling or calling out their names until we found them in a drain culvert at 1am.
Kids...when we asked them why were they there..they said they were afraid of being disciplined just because they were late making it home...goshhh..

She proceeds to express her disgust and gives the customer service lady helping her a hard time about it.
She stated she will take her business somewhere else if Fox News is going to be on the lobby T.V.
Then she asked to see the manager, and wanted to complain to the manager.
Manager was helping someone else, and lady stood in lobby for about 10 minutes with a perturbed look on her face before finally leaving.
She probably would have been happy to see some "fake news" though!!
Liberals demand you accept their views, beliefs,ideas.... but they will not adhere to that which they demand from those opposing viewpoints.
"As the culture war is about irreconcilable beliefs about God and man, right and wrong, good and evil, and is at root a religious war, it will be with us so long as men are free to act on their beliefs."
Is Secession a Solution to Cultural War?
I think that's what the original Americans (native americans) wanted, but they were beaten down and told the government would take care of them, so those of us who came from somewhere else could take over the land they lived on.
How did that work out?
Just my own thing, but that's why I prep, and will survive as long as I can.

Here is a video where Carly Fiorina talks about Microfinance. Start at 11:30 if you do not want to watch it all.
CPAC 2017 - A conversation with Carly Fiorina and Arthur Brooks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQWibQaI230
In the video she talks about her work with Opportunity International, this is their web site http://opportunity.org/.
This is how I think micro loans would have to work in the U.S.
1, You decide on a product that you can make.
2. You get a loan to buy the tools and materials.
3. You make the product and start selling them.
1 A. There will be workshops setup similar to the BBB SCORE program except the workshops would actually provide helpful information. At the workshop you would learn how to navigate the local bureaucracy. How and where to sell you product including the .gov marketplace.
1 B. Advisers will be available to help with any patent and design/engineering issues. Advisers will also be available to help with any problems with buyers or suppliers.
2 A. The loan program participants will be given first dibs on any government surplus equipment, tools and materials that are available.
2 B. The loan recipients will be able to combine their buying power to get better deals on tools and materials.
2 C. Loan recipients would be free of all taxes and fees when buying equipment, tools and materials for a length of time.
3 A. The loan recipient will be free to sale their product anyway that they see fit including a government marketplace.
3 B. More than one loan recipient will be able to produce the same product.
3 C. Wholesalers will be able make request on the marketplace for a given number of a product and producers will be able to bid by stating on how many of the product they can supply in the allotted time and the amount they are willing to sell them for.
Loan recipient will be placed in loan groups of 5 people. Each of the members of a loan group will be responsible for repaying any loan defaulted on by one of the other members. All of a loan group's members will have to work together to insure the success of each member's venture.
When a loan recipient repays his or her loan he she will be able to take out another loan in order to expand his/her business. The loan recipient will have the choose as to weather he/she wishes to stay in his/her current loan grube or be placed in another one.
The loan recipient will be exempt from any taxis on any money made from their venture during the time period of the loan.
The loan fund will be funded by tax deductible voluntary contributions and interest bade on the loans. No tax payer's money will be used to set up, maintain or expand the loan fund.
The marketplace will be funded by charging a small user fee and tax deductible voluntary contributions.
Tax deductible contributions will be able to be made directly to the program or by checking a box and filling in the amount that you wish to contribute on your federal income tax form.
The loans amount will range from $500.00 to $2000.00 and have an interest rate of around 2%. The loans can be taken out for 1 to 5 years.
My 17L was a wee bit too heavy for it it and tended to slip off when other guns bumped the set up as they were attached. I solved the problem by adding another magnetic mount. My various daily pistols are now all nicely organized and securely attached. Beats the Hell out of having them clutter up the book shelf I had them on. (And yes, I cleaned the shelf after taking the pic.)
Not bad for about $5 total. Find the mag mounts next to the zip ties.

---Quote--- Proposed Executive Order Designating Certain Rifles for ‘Militia Purposes’ ---End Quote---...If you were a LEO, and you discovered that an individual was an illegal alien (with no other reasons to arrest them), would you let them go?
Could the individual LEO be prosecuted by Federal officials for treason, or some such other legal term, for their lack of action?
I have a pair of GoLite Quest Lite that are beyond their last leg. I'm looking for a waterproof hiker with similar size (5" height) and weight (17oz). Any recommendations? I also prefer the final top lace to be a hole instead of a clip, most of the hikers I see nowadays have the clips for the last few laces on top.
I am surprised about Politico, which does slant a bit left, but not as much as the others listed IMO.
The Associated Press skipping might get interesting. That is the main service used by newspapers and TV that don't have their own bureaus. A lot of Americans are going to start seeing less about what Spicer says, more about Spicer's allegedly anti-First Amendment steps.
An atrocity is defined as violence that does not serve a military purpose, though more than that is typically implied. Atrocities happen in war, and good people generally dislike those who commit them. This makes them valuable material for a form of psychological warfare called atrocity propaganda. Psywar, as it is often called, is as old as war, and this is one of its favorite weapons.
Here’s how it works: bad things are done in war, and sometimes the conditions and situations found in war result in soldiers doing things they aren't supposed to do; even things they are supposed to do often are not very nice, since you can't be a nice guy and win a war. What the propagandist does is ignore or play down anything that might be called an atrocity done by his side, while drawing as much attention as possible to anything bad, or that can be made to look bad, done by the other side. This influences the simple mind as to who is the good guy and who is the bad guy.
This of course makes sense and will naturally be done anyway; even children often do it instinctively. But as a strategy of psywar it’s done deliberately, systematically, ruthlessly, and for a strategic or tactical purpose.
The purpose is to lead people to see your side as morally good and the other as bad, and to make that distinction as dramatic as possible, in order to make people like your side and want to support it, while hating your enemy so they will join you in defeating him. This applies to participants on both sides and third parties, who might have some kind of power over the participants. It can make your enemy question his commitment, and reinforce the resolve of the side you support: destroying enemy morale and preserving yours are keys to survival and victory in war. And dividing your enemy and his friends into pieces and turning them all against each other makes victory a lot easier.
A realistic assessment of the liberal press shows that it has long used this strategy against America, and in doing so it has taken the side of our enemies, giving them aid and comfort. It’s one thing to report everything that happens in an unbiased manner, but that’s not what the liberal press does. The liberal press makes America look as bad as possible, while playing down the terrible things done by our enemies. It has done this since the Vietnam War, and it does it today.
There are many variations of this technique. One example is the difference between how the liberal press reports (or pretends to report) about liberal protesters versus patriot protesters, as in the Tea Party for example. You know which side they are on by studying their propaganda, and once you do, you see just how ruthlessly they use this weapon.
Hi, I'm David from Dallas and have always loved the outdoors. I have been camping, hunting, and fishing many times, but not so much in recent years. I have read many of the posts on this forum before and enjoy reading other people's experiences and gear recommendations. I'm looking forward to learning more from everyone here. ?
LiquiGlide. No, it isn't a new bedroom lubricant.
It's a method to make containers release every last drop in them regardless of how sticky or pasty it is. The last drop of ketchup, mustard, mayo, paint, hand cream, liquid soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc, all coming out of the container with no waste.
It may not seem important but we waste between 5-20% of nonsolid consumables that way globally. When you add up that last dribble from every bottle of squeeze mustard globally, you are talking about more mustard than you'll likely ever see in your life.
For industry this will mean real savings on high dollar viscous lubes, glues, coatings, and other various industrial chemical products.
It's really fascinating and the 3 minute vid will be worth the look.
