Same bullet size as .270. The round was designed to run 25 in a 30 round 5.56 mag, and a couple of my buddies use those mags for the round. I built a swap barrel gun on a short action Savage that runs the 5.56 and .300 Blk rounds with a change of bolt face. Range isn't that different, but terminal effect on deer sized game certainly is.
