LEO's And the Discrepancy between Federal and State's Laws

I just read the thread regarding WA state becoming a sanctuary state. This lead me to wondering about one significant question.

If you were a LEO, and you discovered that an individual was an illegal alien (with no other reasons to arrest them), would you let them go?

Could the individual LEO be prosecuted by Federal officials for treason, or some such other legal term, for their lack of action?
