Why are "lefties" preparing?

This question or one along these lines was asked a few weeks back. Well I have an answer from a minor "lefty". I say minor because he is a moderate left leaning person friend of mine that I talk politics with all of the time, but his wife is full flaming left.

We were discussing the first 6 minutes of this video.

We both felt that it is basically correct and that people are in their bubbles. We also agree......here's the money part.......that the only way people will break these bubbles and have any chance of healing the divide in this country will be through a major disaster.

Whether that be an economic collapse, civil unrest, or other. When 911 occurred Americans of all stripes came together for about a year.

He is not a prepper, but he is thinking about it......you can tell. If others like him from the left believe the same thing, this is at least one possible reason people that lean to the left have started preparing.
