Mechanic type question

If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

2004 Mercedes E220 Cdi (wagon).
It has the air suspension in the back.

The front shocks were crap so we replaced them. When we set the car back on the ground, the front seems to be about 1.5 inches higher than it was. There is now a lot of wheel well showing.

It rides better... corners better... handles better... but sometimes like on the downhill side of a speed bump it hits very hard and loud, almost like the suspension is just slamming the car down.

I can't find anything that is not on properly, not seated properly etc.

any ideas?
