Trying to decide my best SHTF rifle.

As things stand right now I have a basic setup of non perishable foods and basic medical supplies for my wife and I should we need to survive in SHTF, I'm planning on bulking them up and maybe aiming for some better quality eventualy.

But for right now I feel my next decision I need to make is to finally make a solid decision on a rifle setup. So I know exactly what tool to grab as we leave and i can focus practice and ammo/funds on that rifle.

I know a lot of this will depend on personal opinions but that's what I'm here for is to get as many as I can then decode which I agree with.

I have both a 556 AR15 and an AK47 and I'm having a hell of a time deciding which would be better. They both have all sorts of positives and negatives.

I had settled on the AK for the simple facts of how extremely reliable it has proven to be and the extra punch the caliber allows me. The one down side that is making me seriously doubt the decision is how damn heavy the thing is. Especially compared to the AR.

What are your personal thoughts and what do you have?
As a side note I'm saving up to buy a glock 19 as a side arm. I test fired a bunch of 9mm handguns and it worked best for me.
