U.S. Military Develops AI Bot Swarms

The link below describes new research by the U.S. military that counters Chinese and Russian technological advances in cyber warfare denial of operations of US cyber technology. A careful reading of this article will reveal that these drone swarms can act automously when communications are disrupted.

While I can certainly see the need for this technology in applications of asymmetrical warfare scenarios, the ability of these drone swarms to not only observe, but kill is troubling to me. Assurances are given that no "kill" order will be allowed autonomously, but by permission only, that function can, no doubt, be reprogrammed if desired.

Should we ever face a government in Washington that seeks to oppress the citizens of this nation, the use of AI drowns would be a formidable issue.
