Why We Hate Bad More Than Love Good?

A couple of weeks in a row I had several conversations with coworkers about how if we do 99 things rights and 1 thing wrong, the focus from many sources is on the 1 wrong thing. This is true in life in general also, not just at work. Why is it that people (including myself) hate bad more than we love good?

In another thread entitled "I was wrong" is a more detailed example of how this applies to me as well. I am certainly not immune. If you think this is a good way to be, why is that?

If you think it would be better if people went against their natural grain of hating bad more than loving the good, how can we be more in harmony with that maxim?
