I was just watching some videos about actors & shows from my youth & came across some about "Land of the Lost", the 70's TV show, not the movie. I always liked it when I was a kid cause I felt if that were my dad & uncles we'd do alright. If you don't know, the premise is a father takes his 2 kids on a rafting expedition. They go over some mysterious waterfalls & are transported either back in time, to an alternate universe, or both. I'm just wondering if you were in a party of 2-3 adults with another 2-3 kids (age range of 12-17) that were going on an extended camping/expedition far from civilization & that you knew there were dangerous animals like big cats, crocodiles, large snakes, etc. What would you pack & how do you think you would fare? I will say you can't pack a 50BMG for dinosaurs, cause you don't know that would happen. If we limit it to one long gun & one handgun per adult plus an extra 2 guns, so for instance each adult has a rifle & handgun, you could add a shotgun or 2 or whatever combination. You also plan on taking enough food, clothes & typical camping gear to last a full week. You also brought a satellite phone & some 2 way radios. Now once you get into dinosaur land, the satellite phone would be basically useless, unless you can use it to make something else. Your pack can't be excessively heavy, lets 1/3 each persons body weight, but you can pack a fair amount of gear in the boat. A boat something like these.
Again, while you are packing to be on a full week long expedition in some dangerous remote place, you aren't expecting to be transported back to the time of dinosaurs so you shouldn't pack crazy stuff or excessive amounts either, but since it is a prepper site, I think some reasonable indulgences would be expected. Now assuming all your gear survives the falls & you are able to locate anything that might've fallen out, nobody is hurt in that initial incident, how do you think you'd fair, especially after the food you packed runs out?
