Resonable Handmade Knives

Hey All,
I am kind of new to knives and I am looking for hand made stuff from reliable folks. I like the idea that I can help someone out that needs money for good work. So, who can you recommend for a solid reliable knife that won't break the bank? Like $300 or less and bomb proof?
