Alaskan City Council Says Prayer to Satan

Pretty disgusting display, in my opinion. And worse, right down the road from me.

You guys clearly don't have the whole story, however. It wasn't an assembly sanctioned prayer.

In the past they've always had pastors give prayers at the beginning of their meetings, but enough people complained that they changed to a system where anybody could sign up with the town clerk on a "first come, first served" basis to provide the invocation. This time, it was some local woman who calls herself a follower of Satan.

One assembly member actually walked out of the meeting once she got started.

Just know that it was one lone individual, not in any way connected with the council.
