Earlier this evening, a coworker and myself were discussing Commiefornia's ludicrous gun laws that are in effect and/or will be next year. (we live in the southeastern US and really feel for you guys)
What confuses me is how can these new laws be upheld on a federal level? For instance, the impending lockdown on previously grandfathered magazines, or the limit on how much ammunition you are allowed to keep on hand.
My understanding (and I very well could be wrong, but I AM here to learn) is that if you are caught with magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds or possessing more that XXX amount of ammunition, or breaching any of the other ridiculous gun related laws, you will be charged at the felony level.
How can that be? Those are not federally mandated laws, so how can they be upheld outside of the state? what happens if the "felon" moves out of state? will that so called felony crime disappear from his/her record since the "crime" they committed is legal in nearly every other state?
If I am wrong, please set me straight. I haven't been really following closely because I don't live anywhere near there (I have noticed the lack of ammunition on my favorite online retailer, they cited the upcoming elections and CA's impending laws as the primary culprits), But I can't wrap my head around this.
