Short term storage of beans

I've decided to spend some time experimenting with different recipes of rice and beans to come up with what I like best.

So I just bought some rice and black beans, intended for short term use (within a year or so).

I'm planning to store the rice in an Arizona tea container, and the beans in glass jars (old peanut butter jars). Is this a good solution for the beans?
