Best way to get food if SHTF?

If you don't have some food storage such as rice, dried beans, canned goods, etc - plus water , all the hunting, trapping, snaring is a waste as it is not sustainable. I'm in a game rich area and pretty successful obtaining food when I hunt but do know in a true long term SHTF situation animal populations will quickly decline. Another concern is while you are out and about living off the land and hunting, someone may easily hunt you as well.

Count on your main food source being a good supply of storage foods, with a plan to grow foods if the situation is longterm, and then possible supplement with hunted game. If you relie on game, I would say in most instances you are better off to trap or snare as it is quiet and allows you time to get other things done.
