Simple question for the 1911 crowd: Based on hands-on experience/ownership, what is the best value for ~ $1,500? I'm selling a couple handguns and looking to reinvest the proceeds in a nice 1911. Haven't owned one in a while, and the amount of choices is as mind numbing as the AR rifle market. $1,500 is the spending limit, so NIB price has to be close. Going to use on the range and HD mostly, but it has to be a model that I could also CCW if need be ... I prefer full size Governments, but that's not mandatory. The only make I
will not buy is Kimber, so everything else (Colt, SIG, Springfield, etc.) will be considered. I figure that $1,500 should get something that is good to go right out of the box, with no upgrading needed.
Please ... no "Buy a Glock" bull**** responses; no "Spend $1K and the rest on ammo" bull**** responses; no "1911s are crap" bull**** responses, etc.
