Surprising recommendation - Gerber EAB Lite

So I have been eyeing the Gerber EAB for years, even before they were recalled for the exposed blade design defect, but never pulled the trigger on one. I guess after the recall I had a stigma about the little buggers and Gerber in general has not enthralled me with confidence recently. I'm pretty sure the last Gerber product I purchased was 20-25 years ago. Anyways, I was tooling around this weekend and stopped into a local Academy Sports store and saw the EAB Lite and figured for $12 OTD, what the hell, I'm bored and want a new toy.

I have to say I am very impressed with this tool. It virtually disappears clipped to a pocket as to be not even noticed (weight and size wise). It locks open solid and has a very positive snap closure. The only improvement that I plan is to find a small threaded hex head screw with the same threads to replace the blade retention screw so that it can also be used as a thumb stud for one handed opening. I highly recommend picking one up if you were a fence sitter like me.

I paid $12 at Academy but you can get them for as little as $8 on Amazon with a Prime account. I really recommend picking one up.
