Wine making

My neighbor grows grapes and the other day we got to talking about grapes, apparently what he doesn't keep he gives away. It's a lot of grapes! The discussion naturally turned to what to do with excess grapes and the topic of wine making came up.

Now to the gist of this thread...how does one go about making wine from grapes. I've done a bit of research and there are kits and supplies one can buy. Anyway it looks like I might be making wine. Thing is I've never done it before...any tips or help would be greatly appreciated...
