Cell phone signal amplifiers

My parents live in the Ozarks and about a mile from their carriers tower. They haven't had a lot of luck with them. They work for a while and then just stop working.

I don't have any personal experience with them, but know that you have to have a decent and constant signal for them to work. If you live in the mountains, this can be tricky depending on elevation (clouds), weather patterns, as well as other things. Could possibly help to put on a tower if you get better line of sight. The line of sight issue is what makes sat phones more superior (and a hell of a lot more expensive).
