I am florida so root cellars are not a good option for apples which are even a poorer option in the deep south for growing.
Pecans are possible, they just never did well for me and chestnuts did. The other nuts are also iffy for me.
Kiwi I will look into once i find some that will actually grow for me
Cherries, the sour ones are said to do well here. Sounds like a lot of work to dry them. We are very moist with a mean of 60 inches of rain a year.
Oranges I grow. Fruit juice needs to be refrigerated, but oranges will store whole during the winter. They are a late crop so should be ok during the winter months.
Lemons and Limes are hard to grow in zone 8b without a green house.
Bananas, need to find short season bananas that I hope to find. Most require 18 months to yield; did get lucky once and got a bunch. Friend a little more to the south of me regularly gets his bananas to make.
