Educating a future generation of wimps--school adopts "Be Kind!" theme

A major Metro high school in my area has decided to adapt a new theme and purpose for the school year:

Embracing "kindness" as an official school policy. Including an official "Be Kind Day".

This article has to be read to be believed. Is this the ultimate in producing a new generation of Snowflakes?

Some snippets from the article:

In Bellevue Public Schools, the teachers and staff of the district gathered on the Bellevue East High football field Tuesday and spelled out #BeKind while a drone flew overhead capturing photos and video.

Cindy Gress, a teacher at Bellevue’s Lewis & Clark Middle School, participated in the giant spelling event and backs the effort.

Kindness matters “in all circumstances,” even to the bullies, Gress said.

“I want every student to know you are smart, you are beautiful, you are loved,” she said.

Every student and staff member will receive a pad of sticky notes, and all will be encouraged to write positive messages on sticky notes and post them on students’ lockers or other places.

Okay--I'm not saying that High School should be like Marine BootCamp training, or that we should raise a generation of bullies. But this is friggin' ridiculous!

Are we actually doing the right thing in raising a generation of kids, by doing this?

How about something more positive? How about "Be courageous" or "Be Responsible" or "Be a leader"?

All of the above would be great and POSITIVE inspirational things for young people to aspire to.

Is this the motto that the football team is going into the fall season with?

Is this the way to raise the next generation of leaders in business and government for our country?

Our public school system has totally gone-off the "deep end"!

Thought? Opinions?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
