You can store the unused ones in O ring sealed kitchen containers (the ones that are really air tight).

They stay dry and ready for use that way.

If you buy the bulk industrial silica gel, you can get it dyed blue (Cobalt Chloride) - that turns pink when it absorbs moisture and needs to be recharged/desiccated. When (oven) dried again it turns back to blue.

I like to package the bulk silica gel in calico or cotton bags with tied tops. That way you can open the top to check the color of the gel beads/prills and the calico is heat proof enough for the oven recharging process.

If you or someone you know can sew, you can make the bags from old worn-out cotton sheets.
