Looking for good mid-range MFP recommendations

After 24 years of faithful servers (yes, 24!), our HP Laserjet 6P is starting to streak and it is getting worse. Have cleaned it, jiggled the toner cartridge, etc. I suspect the fuser is finally going.

So rather than invest anymore money on the unit, Mrs. AZ_HighCountry made the comment that we need a copier. We do some occasional copying and scan to email. Or did as the old scanner was NOT Win10 compatible and Canon wasn't planning to develop drivers for it. Hence I'm looking for something in the upper $250 to $400 range, monochrome printing, scan. No need to fax; email works fine. Looking for recommendations. I am leaning toward Brother (have a Brother B&W in my office, it is great) and Lexmark.

And no, don't suggest I do this with the 6P or try that. It's a 24 year old printer and it has more than paid for itself.
