M&P Sport II or Ruger 556

Want to get a semi-auto rifle. My local gun shop has a S&W M&P Sport II, and a Rugger 556 in stock. Was really holding out for an AK47 since I have the ammo for that (have a bolt gun in that caliber).

But with the way guns sales are, should I just get one of those, and hope to find some ammo. (seem to be sold out online). If so, which do you recommend?
