I have lurked on this forum for years and have gained a wealth of valuable information from it. For that, I say thank you all!
I'm now 25 and I live in rural SC. I have been interested in preparedness since I was an undergrad but have always been limited by time, space, and budget constraints. I first came to this forum looking for info on assembling a bug out bag and a 72 hour disaster kit back when I was in school. I took some classes in college about emergency management and disaster response that really opened my eyes to some of the things going on in the world.
I am not as prepared as many of you are, but I try to always keep three to four months worth of food, water, consumables, and living expenses on hand. I will continue boost this as time and finances allow.
My food stores and emergency savings proved very useful in the past when I lost my stable income a few years ago. For nearly 10 months, I was only working part-time until I was able to find a full time job. Having basic preps in place really helped me through that difficult time in my life.
I enjoy just about anything that has to do with the outdoors. I like hiking, target shooting, fishing, archery, etc.
I'm looking forward to learning even more about preparedness, gardening, and being as self-sufficient as possible.
