septic tank question

I went to the local health department and picked up a copy of the well and septic info that was filed when the house was built (I'm the second owner). The paperwork says the septic has the capability to process 450 gallons per day. I have it pumped every 3 years. There are 3 people in the household.

Is there a minimum amount of water that should go into the tank on a daily basis in order to keep the system operating properly?
