He is someone that very much puts results over his personal image I think. Question is whether the Dems could slow things down enough to stop him.

It wasn't because it was simply a re-election year. It was Obama's last year in office. He could not be re-elected. That made it fair game. The Dems had done the same in the past. It would not have happened that way in 2012.

It's not quite the same situation as the 2020 election.

In fact, the Senate wouldn't be using the nuclear option to ram through federal judicial appointees if were not for Harry Reid setting the precedent.

I'm still trying to figure out how both Obama and Trump were able to push through so many federal judge positions when that is a lifetime appointment. It's not possible that so many judges are retiring unless an incentive is involved. The concept with lifetime appointments is intended to prevent the flipping of judges every time we elect a new president. Whatever precedent Obama set, Trump followed and did the same. If anyone knows the answer, please enlighten me.

The precedent for every dirty trick in politics is set by the Democrats. Prove me wrong.
