Are these locusts?

I have a friend who studies bugs, and he says there's brown grasshoppers - so that probably answers the question, but I had a weird experience last night that made me worried.

I did some quick research and because these were brown and could seemingly fly, and were fairly aggressive or not afraid, I was worried I saw many locusts on my back patio last night!

Two got in my house and had to be exterminated. One "flew" above my head across a 10' room. I killed two, there might be a third. So I'm concerned about more. None outside today, thankfully.

I know they're supposedly not in the US but I've never seen brown grasshoppers, never seen more than 1 in an area, and never seen them "swarm" on a patio like this. I had probably 10 on my small patio.

Any bug experts want to chime in?
