How close to a prison is acceptable for a Bug Out Location

Yeah what is the problem? Butout locations should be off the beaten path and 40 miles is 1600 square miles.

If you are on a main road and there is only one road to the prison and your building stands out visible from the road, then your chances of problems increase. Truth be told many folks have a survival instinct and it is everyday folks and those that know what you have that are the problem.

It’s your neighbor whom you gave a tour of your bug out location that will show up armed with six men when things get bad enough.

Prisoners are usually locked down.

When releases they have trouble obtaining vehicles and weapons, which presumably you have. They also do not have much information. It is conceivable they haven’t even seen cellphones I’d they have been locked up for a long time.

Besides, if your bug out location is good nobody will find it, and should prisoners form gangs and target you in a SHTF situation, you shoot, shovel, and shut-up. As long as you do not have any witnesses who talk about it, you will not have an issue, BUT remember... two can keep a secret if one is dead.
