Report from WV Cabela's 8.15.20

Was driving from Bethlehem PA to Columbus, OH. Stopped in WV at Cabela's off I-70. Looking for 308 AR and small pistol primers.

I talked with gun person about availability of 308 AR's. He had told they seldom get in any. And it was not only due to high demand, but the virus stopped production at gun manufactures and contributed to the shortage. Never thought of the closedown aspect, but it seems to be true.

If anyone is interested they had 1 AR 308 in stock...a tan FN SCAR 20S for $4000 Plus a handful of the odd ball large caliber AR's. (Not 308 and not 5.56)

Lots of sporting guns in stock.

Lots of pistols in stock...with OK prices.

No pistol primers at all.

1 box of shotgun primers

A handful of boxes of large rifle primers

No small rifle primers

No magnum primers

A few containers of powder.

Pistol ammo was slim. They always seem to have some .40 auto. Have never seen ay 9mm on the few trips I've made there. Usually just .22's, 32 ACP and the .45 cowboy loads.

I asked about bulk FMJ ammo to buy. He told me they don't sell bulk any more. They break it all down and sell small boxes. They had a sign there limiting purchases of certain ammo to 5 boxes per person per day. But there was none to be found.

I found a few boxes of .308 there. Cheapest may have been about 1.10 per round. Rest were in the area of $1.50 to $2 a round.

If you are interested in reloading here is a good chart for your reference.
