Chappie - The rich man's slave

EDIT: I should have titled this the government's slave, didn't mean to pigeon hole the wealthy

Watched part of a movie called Chappie last night, I think it's about a robot that become self aware, super original. I didn't watch more then the first 5 or 10 minutes, but the beginning of the movie got me thinking as it started by showing these highly advanced humanoid police robots kicking in doors and doing arrests.

I've never been too worried about the govt subjugating the people because in order to do it they would need the cooperation of soldiers and police that are tied to the very society they wish to control. Robots however.... As robotics continue to advance and we become capable of fielding entire forces of robots that can replace soldiers/police my tin foil hat grows with fears of the possible usage.

I already have one robot in my house, it vacuums the floor, never asks questions, never talks back, it just does it's job, it's my slave. If I wanted it to torture the cat, (I don't have a cat, I'm just saying) it would.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
