SPPD Officers Take Out Gunman

At around 0300 hours (3 AM) Sunday morning two Saint Paul P.D. officers shot and killed a suspect who was brandishing a handgun. They were responding to a call of shots fired/man with a gun and when they arrived they sure as hell encountered a man with a gun!

Right now there isn't much out on this story. However, both officers had their body cams turned on and I am confident that they will be exonerated of any wrong doing. Meanwhile, another disappointed pack of "grieving" relatives will lose the ghetto lottery.

Saint Paul Police Officers Involved in a Shooting in Summit-University Neighborhood

A report of shots being fired led officers to a residence on the 900 block of St. Anthony Avenue this morning. That’s where they encountered an adult male armed with a handgun who was shot and killed.

Officers were dispatched to the multi-unit dwelling at approximately 2:30 a.m. after a male 911 caller reported that someone had fired multiple shots inside a residence on the second floor. The 911 caller then hung up without providing additional information.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered a man with a gun. At some point, two officers discharged their service weapons, striking the man. Saint Paul Fire medics were immediately called to the scene, and the man was pronounced dead.

Officers immediately searched the surrounding area for anyone else who may have been injured as a result of the call for service, secured the scene and contacted the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which is conducting an investigation.

Both officers involved in the shooting were wearing body cameras, which were activated. All officers involved in the incident will be placed on standard administrative leave.

Body camera footage, along with all other evidence, is being turned over to the BCA, which will release any subsequent information about this incident.
