Lost Hiker Found, Santa Fe Nat'l Forest

So I ran across this story. Searched to see if it had been posted and didn't find anything.

Dude, an experienced hiker, is lost for 14 days in the Santa Fe National Forest. Eventually, he is found by one John Utsey. The story is pretty remarkable if a little scant on details.

The most remarkable part is Utsey hikes back out the trailhead, calls 911, and the "rescuers" show up within the hour. Utsey gives them the freakin' GPS coordinates and the rescuers can't find the guy. After 8 hours, they just call off the search. The next morning, Utsey goes back out, finds the guy again, then goes out the trail head, calls 911 again, and personally leads them to Dude. Twice. You know, since they couldn't find him with the freaking GPS coordinates the day before.

I guess the moral of the story is to make sure you carry a personal locator beacon when soloing. The problem is, the "rescuers" already had GPS coordinates.

Other stories, at least one of which leave out the bit about Utsey giving the "rescuers" the GPS coordinates.
